TANKING VINDICATED?: SANDY AND STOKLEY

05/18/2016 – Sandy and Stokley – C.J. and Paul Klee filled in for Sandy Clough and Brandon Stokley. The guys talk about the Broncos announcing their new Ring of Fame inductees yesterday, the Broncos new stadium name, game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals between Toronto and Cleveland, and the Nuggets getting the 7th pick in last nights NBA draft lottery. 9News Broncos Insider Mike Klis will join the guys in the first hour, Sam Vecenie from CBS Sports and Damien Woody from ESPN join the show in the third hour.
Hour one begins with C.J. and Paul Klee talking about game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Cavaliers rolled over the Raptors last night in game 1, 115 to 84. C.J. and Paul break down how Cleveland was able to beat Toronto with ease.
Yesterday the Broncos announced their new Ring of Fame inductees. Safety John Lynch, linebacker Simon Fletcher, and kicker Jason Elam were all selected. C.J. and Paul give their thoughts on the three selected. Some were a little shocked by John Lynch getting in. C.J. has no problem with Lynch getting into the Ring of Fame. The guys also agree that Simon Fletcher was long overdue to get into the Broncos Ring of Fame.
To wrap up the hour C.J. and Paul debate tanking in the NBA after Philadelphia gained the number 1 pick in last nights NBA draft lottery. C.J. believes that tanking works and the 76ers are a prime example of it working. Paul Klee thinks that the chance of landing a prime player is not likely and it’s not worth it. The fellas also analyze why a tanking strategy would not be a smart move for a team like the Nuggets.
Hour 2 the guys discuss the Broncos schedule and how many wins are possible this year. Paul Klee throws out the question, would you automatically take 10 wins for the Broncos or take a chance and play it out and see what the Broncos record would be? C.J. would take the 10 wins and Paul Klee agrees and would also elect for 10 wins and not risk it with the teams current situation at quarterback.
Texas Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor was suspended eight games yesterday for his role in this last weekend’s Blue Jays Rangers brawl. C.J. wanted to see more games handed down to Odor C.J. looks at how many games other sports have suspended players for in the past for fighting.
9News Broncos Insider Mike Klis joined the show to talk Broncos football. Mike weighs in on if 9 wins would be fair for the Broncos. Mike answers the question about how Paxton Lynch can get on the field faster and which quarterback will take the most first team reps in off-season workouts next week. Hour three kicks off with Sam Vecenie from CBS Sports joining the show to discuss the NBA draft lottery. Sam looks at teams tanking in the NBA and the Nuggets drawing the 7th overall pick in the draft. Who might be available at 7 for the Nuggets? Former NFL offensive lineman now with ESPN Damien Woody jumped on the program. Damien talks about the Broncos feeling disrespected going this year and where he expects them to end up record wise. Damien discusses what kind of quarterback his former teammate Mark Sanchez is. Damien gets into a little of who and how Patriots head coach Bill Belichick acts behind closed doors. The rest of the hour the guys here comments made by Broncos cornerback Bradley Roby from Dove Valley today. C.J. and Paul Klee react to some of what Bradley had to say, including the defense continuing to feel disrespected as they head into the 2016-2017 season.
