Sandy and Stokley – 05/16/2016 – C.J. and Troy Renck filled in for Sandy Clough and Brandon Stokley. The guys talked about the Broncos developing players, guys that could see a larger role for the Broncos in 2016-2017, quarterback Mark Sanchez having surgery on his left thumb NBA playoff discussion as Golden State takes on Oklahoma City in game one of their series, and the Rockies sweeping the Mets over the weekend. Chris Landry from landryfootball.com joined the show in the third hour of the program to talk about the NFL.

Hour one C.J. and Troy kick off the show talking about Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor punching Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista. Troy breaks down the feud between the Rangers and Blue Jays. Troy also compares this weekend’s brawl to other baseball brawls he’s seen. C.J. gives his feelings on fighting in sports and if it has a place in the game.

Broncos tight end Virgil Green talked to the media at Dove Valley. C.J. and Troy Renck weigh in on some of what Green had to say. The fellas also talk about the importance of the tight end position in 2016-2017 for Denver. Troy explains how with head coach Gary Kubiak implementing his run first offense, the Broncos will now rely more on tight ends in their passing game. C.J. would like to see Virgil Green step up and play a larger role this next year.

The guys wrap up the hour breaking down who might see a larger role for Denver on the defensive side of the ball. C.J. asks if defensive lineman Derek Wolfe can play an even bigger role this season? Troy thinks that would be pretty hard to do.C.J. and Troy also look at the linebacker position. The guys agree that Todd Davis will be on player to step up and fill in at linebacker.

Hour two C.J. and Troy kick off the hour talking about what the Broncos’ might name their stadium. The guys take some suggestions on the text line and break it all down.

Per 9News Broncos Insider Mike Klis, Broncos quarterback Mark Sanchez will miss at least a week following left thumb surgery. What the the Broncos do at quarterback now heading into more workouts? Will quarterback Paxton Lynch get more reps now once he’s signed? C.J. doesn’t think Mark Sanchez’s injury changes the situation much because Lynch is warming up to take over. Troy brings up the point that if he isn’t ready to go at some point, the Broncos will need to have another option ready.

C.J. and Troy Renck continue to break down the quarterback position for the Broncos. With Sanchez missing a week are you worried about Mark Sanchez not getting enough reps? C.J. says reps only matter for rookies. C.J. discusses how Mark Sanchez as a veteran doesn’t need as many reps and there not as important.

Hour three Chris Landry from landryfootball.com joined the show to talk some football. With Mark Sanchez missing at least a week, Chris Landry breaks down what the injury means for Denver at quarterback. Chris looks at when Paxton Lynch will take over as a starter. Chris also looks at the rest of the Broncos roster. What will the Broncos do at the linebacker position? Chris weighs in on Todd Davis and others at the linebacker position. C.J. and Troy Renck preview game 1 of the Western Conference Finals between the Thunder and Warriors. The guys give their predictions and dig into. How do the two teams match up. C.J. and Troy Renck break it all down.

At the end of the hour the fellas once again talk more about brawls in baseball after Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor punched Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista. Troy Renck goes into what happened and if this is what baseball needs more of. Plus, the guys look at another injury from around the NFL with Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins breaking his foot.
