Schlereth & Evans – 5/9/16 – Troy Renck from the Denver Post fills in for Stink this Monday morning to kick off the week. Troy and Mike spend a lot of today’s show discussing their impressions from Broncos rookie mini-camp including thoughts on future offensive starters Devontae Booker and Paxton Lynch. The guys are also joined by Rockies Insider Patrick Saunders to talk Rockies baseball from this past weekend.

The first hour begins with Mike and Troy diving into the Broncos rookie mini-camp held this past weekend and their initial thoughts on the rookie class after being able to see them in practice up close this past weekend. 

The Morning Brew then went down midway through the first hour where the gents talked more Broncos rookie mini-camp, Jerry Jones on missing drafting Paxton Lynch, the Rockies splitting 4 games with the Giants and LeBron and the Cavs sweeping the Hawk to get to the Conference Finals.

They close the first hour chatting the Broncos rookies more and try to analyze which of those rookies could have the biggest immediate impact this upcoming season.

The second hour begins with Rockies Baseball Insider Patrick Saunders joins the guys to talk everything Rockies baseball including their first 10 game west coast trip where they came out above .500, how he thinks the starting rotation is fairing so far and what he attributes the recent pitching success too. 4 Down Territory was next where Troy and Mike discussed Paxton Lynch at rookie mini-camp, Sam Bradford returning to Eagles camp, the Cowboys draft day and how it could have been much different and Robert Nkemdiche tearing it up at Cardnials rookie mini-camp.

They closed the middle hour by taking some thoughts from the Total Beverage Text Line in discussion about when Paxton Lynch should be handed the starting job during the 2016 season.

The third hour of Monday’s show consisted of the fellas talking more Broncos and the rookies expected to make a splash come training camp in July. They talk Adam Gotsis replacing Malik Jackson on the D-Line as well as the punter competition between veteran Britton Colquitt and rookie Riley Dixon.

The guys then talk more in-depth about the quarterback position and spent some time comparing numbers between Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler last year and came to the conclusion that there really was no visible difference between the two’s play on the field.

The third hour wrapped up with some thoughts on who will replace Brady at QB during his suspension and their estimate on how long the Rockies will hang around the playoff race.

OT kicks off with Mike diving back into his conversation with Patrick Saunders this morning about his thoughts on the Colorado Rockies, the pitching, and their success so far.

Mike then moves on to the discussion he had earlier in the morning with Troy Renck where the guys mutually agree that rushing Paxton Lynch into the starting QB job is not the best idea for him or the team. 

Mike closes Overtime by taking some fan texts about Paxton Lynch and when he should move into the starting role.
