Schlereth & Evans – 4/25/16 – Monday’s show sees our good friend Troy Renck from the Denver Post fill in for Stink as he and Mike jump into all of the biggest sports stories from this past weekend including Josh Norman signing with the Redskins as well as Steph Curry’s knee undergoing an MRI today. Coach Brian Billick from the NFL Network joins the show to talk all things draft four days before Draft Night.
Hour One starts off with Mike and Troy giving initial reaction to some of the bigger stories from this past weekend including Johnny Manziel’s indictment and the Rockies series loss to the the Dodgers.
They then moved on to the The Morning Brew where they talked the latest Broncos news, Josh Norman’s signing and Johnny Manziel’s indictment, the Rockies weekend struggle and updates on both the NBA and NHL playoffs from this past weekend.
The bottom half of the first hour consisted of Mike and Troy being joined by Super Bowl winning Head Coach and current NFL Network Analyst Brian Billick to discuss everything Denver Broncos including what he calls a “defensive shelf life” as well as how Denver can best answer the burning question of what to do at Quarterback. Listen to our conversation with the Coach HERE!
Hour Two begins with our Rockies Baseball Insider Patrick Saunders joining Mike and Troy to discuss the complete and utter meltdown of the Rockies bullpen yesterday as well as the overall rough weekend they had hosting the Dodgers at Coors Field this past weekend. Check out the guys chatting with Patrick by clicking HERE!
The fellas then moved on to 4 Down Territory where they dove into Josh Norman’s gigantic contract with the Redskins, Johnny Manziel headed to court, the Chargers shopping around the 3rd overall pick and the Texans GM saying his franchise could have gotten a draft pick in return for Brian Hoyer if they didn’t straight up release him.
The gents closed the middle hour with discussion of John Elway’s previous draft picks and how pretty much all of them (51 of his 55 picks have made the team) have contributed in a Broncos uniform.
The guys start the final hour of Monday’s show by discussing how this draft class of Quarterbacks compares to the 2011 class where quarterbacks who didn’t have a first round grade ended up being drafted in the first round and failing miserably in the NFL due to the pressure that comes with being a first round QB.
Mid-way through the final hour Mike and Troy have a conversation about the injury to Warriors PG Steph Curry and whether or not they think he is an “injury prone” player or if what happened to him was just a freak accident.
The gentlemen closed the final hour of Monday’s show debating the differing feelings towards Michigan St. QB Connor Cook and why they think he will or will not succeed in the NFL, respectively.
