From Super Bowl Champs to 8-8?: Sandy and Stokley

CJ filled in for Sandy alongside Stokley today. The Broncos resigned Ronnie Hillman yesterday. With CJ Anderson already having been signed, CJ said he was confused as Ronnie Hillman had a majority of the production for the Broncos last season.
The guys discussed the Broncos 2016 schedule. Stokley sees the Broncos losing week 1 against the Panthers, and a loss again week 3 against the Bengals. All said and done, Stokley has the Broncos finishing 8-8 in 2016.
The discussion on the schedule continued. Stokley said his 8-8 prediction is not set in stone, and he will reevaluate. CJ said this Broncos team ranges from 9-7 to 12-4 depending on who’s under center. As it stands right now, CJ has the Broncos finishing 9-7.
The hour closed out with the guys discussing some of the backlash they’ve received over saying the Broncos will finish 8-8, and 9-7. They also took some phone calls to hear different opinions.
Hour two began with the guys talking about Brian Hoyer watch. Stokley said that he is a better fit for QB in Kubiak’s system. The guys continued to take phone calls discussing the Broncos schedule prediction.
The guys took some more phone calls continuing the conversation on the Broncos schedule.
Drew Goodman of Root Sports joined the program for some Rockies conversation. The Rockies are currently 8-5 and tied for first in the NL West. Drew said that the Rockies starting pitching has been a lot better over the last week, and hopes that this success can be sustainable. CJ said part of his optimism for this season is Trevor Story, and if he can stay healthy unlike Troy Tulowitzki.
Hour two wrapped up with the guys talking about Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer. Urban said in an interview that Cardale Jones wasn’t good at school, and that its difficult to assess if Cardale will be a successful QB at the next level. CJ said that he hates when college coaches talk negatively about their former players.
Today’s final hour opened up with the guys continuing the conversation on college athletes. CJ spoke of the minimum requirements for kids to enter professional athletics. Stokley said he doesn’t feel bad for the kids for not getting paid in college. CJ wondered why it’s okay for MLB or NHL taking high school kids, but it’s not okay for the NFL or NBA. Stokley said football is a different animal from the other sports, and there needs to be time for players to grow and mature before going professional.
The hour continued with Tim Hasselbeck of ESPN joining the program. Tim talked about the quarterbacks that could be taken in the first round of the draft next week. Tim believes that Josh McCown would be the best option for the Broncos to bring in and compete with Mark Sanchez. Tim said at this point, Mark Sanchez is a high end backup, and he doesn’t know if the Broncos would be improving by bringing anyone else in. Tim does think that Colin Kaepernick will end up in Denver. Listen to Tim’s interview HERE.
The guys continued the hour discussing the Broncos quarterback situation, and discussed how who is under center may change the Broncos schedule predictions from earlier in the program.
The guys closed out today’s show by discussing the NFL draft that will be starting next week. They also continued their conversation of next year’s predictions. Stokley said that Colin Kaepernick isn’t a guy he wants in his locker room, and that he’s no better than what the Broncos have right now.
