Report: Denver Broncos scheduled for second interview with Sean Payton this week

Even as Sean Payton interviews with the Carolina Panthers, another potential step to him becoming the Denver Broncos’ next head coach fell into place.
Monday morning, Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Advocate reported that Payton will have a second interview with the Broncos later this week. That interview is expected to involve owners Rob Walton and Carrie Walton Penner joining fellow owner and team CEO Greg Penner, who was involved in the first round of interviews that concluded over the weekend.
Duncan later specified that Payton would travel to Denver Wednesday for the interview.
Point if clarification on the Sean Payton situation. He has not officially finalized his meeting time with the Broncos yet but he plans to fly to Denver Wednesday night in anticipation of meeting with team officials there, presumably that night or Thursday.

Payton interviewed with Penner, general manager George Paton and co-owner Condoleezza Rice last week in Los Angeles.
My column, with the news that Sean Payton has scheduled a second interview with the Broncos this week….

“All signs point to Denver,” wrote Duncan. Last week, Duncan also wrote that it would take at least two first-round picks to acquire Payton’s rights. And Monday morning, Duncan reported that Panthers owner David Tepper “could change the dynamic” of the Payton derby Monday during the Panthers’ interview with their old NFC South rival.
Earlier this month, Payton told FOX Sports co-host Michael Strahan that there was a “7” out of 10 chance that he would remain in broadcasting for the upcoming season.
Michael Strahan: "1-10, what are the chances you'll be here next year with us (at Fox)?"
Sean Payton: "7." pic.twitter.com/oJf8iHzgeN

Of course, .300 hitters in baseball usually reach base at least once a game. And the Broncos will get a second turn at-bat with Payton, the only candidate on their list to have won a Super Bowl as a head coach.
