The Broncos also scratched Damarri Mathis after he spent the week in the post-concussion protocol.

DENVER — Even with Kendall Hinton out, Montrell Washington will not get another crack at punt returns this season. The Broncos made Washington a healthy scratch for their regular-season finale against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Hinton did not practice all week, so the Broncos ruled him out Friday. That led to the possibility that Washington could return to the role he handled in the first 15 games. However, interim coach Jerry Rosburg elected to go in another direction.
Rosburg was coy Friday when asked who would return punts. Some possibilities could include rookie WRs Jalen Virgil and Brandon Johnson and backup RB Chase Edmonds.
The Broncos also deactivated CB Damarri Mathis. Mathis spent the week in the post-concussion protocol after being injured last week. Backup CB Lamar Jackson filled in for Mathis in the final two-and-a-half quarters in Kansas City and broke up two passes.
In addition to Mathis, Hinton and Washington, Denver’s inactives include:
- OT Calvin Anderson
- QB Jarrett Guarantano
- DL D.J. Jones
- Edge rusher Jonathan Kongbo
Rosburg ruled out Jones and Anderson on Friday.
