Von Miller empathizes with Bradley Chubb getting out of a ‘tough situation’

Denver’s dynamic pass-rushing duo will go down as more of a “what if” instead of a what was, after Bradley Chubb and Von Miller have been traded before consecutive NFL Trade Deadlines.

As DenverFan’s Andrew Mason pointed out on Twitter yesterday, “Bradley Chubb and Von Miller played 21 of a possible 56 games together. They combined for 30.5 sacks in those 21 games. They played 20 games together in 2018 and 2019 & combined for 29.5 sacks in those games — 16.5 for Miller, 13.0 for Chubb. What might have been …”

Denver was just 7-14 in the 21 games they ended up playing together. The Broncos legend and top draft pick are now both in AFC East. Chubb was traded Tuesday for a first-round pick in an exchange of assets with Miami.

Miller, who signed with the Bills this offseason after being traded to the Rams last fall, opened up about his trade and tied it back to Chubb to former Denver Post Broncos writer and now Bills coverer for The Buffalo News Ryan O’Halloran.

“He looked way better than I looked (in a post-trade interview) because when I got traded last year, I was crying and could barely talk…it just refreshes you when you get out of a tough situation like that and go to a winning team that needs you to win right now.”

Chubb moves from the 3-5 Broncos to the 5-3 Dolphins. He was selected No. 5 by the Broncos in the 2018 NFL Draft and that too will always be a what if with Miller’s now teammate MVP-favorite Josh Allen going right after.
