It sure sounds like Jamal Murray will be good to go for the Nuggets opener

Oct 17, 2022, 12:57 PM

It’s finally going to happen.

We think.

Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray is on track to play the team’s season opener against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night. It will be his first regular season game since tearing his ACL in April of 2021 against the Warriors.

It’s been well documented the struggles Murray has faced to get back on the court. There was talk he could return for the team’s playoff series last year against Golden State, but that didn’t happen. Back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic carried a depleted Nuggets roster as far as it could go, but they bowed out to the eventual champs in five games.

Murray played in the preseason, briefly, before a thigh injury sidelined him after a bit of a scare in Chicago. Luckily, that situation was not related to the ACL tear, and he appears to be ready to start the year.

This is a big one for the Nuggets. They’re finally healthy, and expectations are at an all-time high. With Jokic, Murray and Michael Porter Jr. good to go, plus a roster that features a lot of intriguing pieces, folks are picking Denver as a sleeper to win the whole thing. If they even get to the NBA Finals, it’d be their first appearance in franchise history.

And while the talent is there, now it’s about staying healthy and putting it all together. That starts with Murray, and for now, it sounds like he’ll be good to go.

Nuggets Nation will certainly be keeping its fingers crossed that remains the case all year long.
