On his day with the Stanley Cup, Avs head coach Bednar emotional again

Jul 19, 2022, 1:22 PM

The Stanley Cup is currently traveling all over the world, as Colorado Avalanche players and coaches each get a day with the trophy to celebrate their monumental achievement.

The day on Tuesday belonged to Avs head coach Jared Bednar, and he took the Cup to South Carolina, where his hockey roots as a player and a coach began.

NHL writer Tom Gulitti was along for the ride, posting updates of Bednar’s day. Local media also joined the fun and interviewed Bednar as well. It’s amazing to learn more about his hockey history and see how much time he spent with the fans in South Carolina. Plus, just like the parade, Bednar got emotional talking about reaching the mountaintop in his sport.

That’s not quite the waterworks the parade provided, but it’s clear Bednar’s still soaking in every moment. And rightfully so. This is a man who’s now won at every level of hockey he’s coached, and some wondered if he was the right man for the job after the Avalanche’s previous failures in Round 2 of the playoffs.

Not only was Bednar the right guy, but he has a chance to win multiple Stanley Cups with Colorado. We’ll see where he takes the trophy in the summer of 2023, should the Avs find a way to repeat as champions.
