This video of Matt Holliday’s son Jackson at Coors Field in 2007 is fantastic

The MLB Draft on Sunday night might have made you feel old.

The No. 1 overall pick, Jackson Holliday, is the son of former Rockies star Matt Holliday. The No. 2 pick was Druw Jones, the son of longtime MLB player Andruw Jones. For anyone who grew up watching baseball in the late 1990s and 2000s, Holliday and Jones are household names.

But particularly in Denver, Matt is beloved. He was the best player on the 2007 “Rocktober” team that went to the World Series. He finished second in National League MVP voting, but many think he should have won the award over Philadelphia’s Jimmy Rollins.

Regardless, this story isn’t about that. It’s about the fact we’re old. So old, in fact, that now 18-year-old Jackson Holliday was just a three-year-old kid during Rocktober. Still, despite his age, he was on the field and in the clubhouse plenty with Matt and the rest of the team. And Jeff Howe, ace photographer at channel 7 in Denver, knew Jackson was going to be a star. Here’s some amazing video he captured of him back in the day:

How cool is that?! From 15 years ago to No. 1 overall pick by the Baltimore Orioles. What a fun journey for him and the Holliday family.

There was one other story that surfaced on Twitter on Sunday night related to this that’s worth reading. Tyler Kepner of the New York Times shared something he wrote about Jackson before the 2007 World Series. The Rockies players knew he was going to be a star.

Wow. Wherever Josh Fogg is now, he should buy a lottery ticket. That’s an incredible prediction. And it’s an incredible story that also shows what I’ve been saying this whole time: We are old!
