Mission 16 W has been accomplished, with the Colorado Avalanche taking Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final 2-1 to win it all.

The Avs 16-4 run through the playoffs is one of the best in NHL history and its crowned with the franchise’s third championship—joining 1996 and 2001.

This is Denver’s first title in a major sport since the Broncos’ Super Bowl 50 win in 2016.

Colorado knocked off the Tampa Bay Lightning to take home the 2022 crown, the Bolts had won two-straight titles and three overall since joining the league as an expansion side in 1992.

The Avalanche won the Stanley Cup via comeback fashion in Game 6, setting an NHL record with 10 come-from-behind wins in a single postseason. Tampa scored in the first period but the Avs answered and took the lead with two in the second period.

Whoever is named Conn Smythe for NHL postseason MVP, will join past Avs winners Joe Sakic and Patrick Roy.
