The best sights and sounds from Avalanche Stanley Cup Final Media Day
Jun 14, 2022, 1:27 PM
The Colorado Avalanche held Stanley Cup Final Media Day on Tuesday, and it was a packed house at Ball Arena.
The Grand Atrium was loaded up with podiums as media from all over the world descended on Denver to ask members of the Avs questions ahead of Game 1 Wednesday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Avs head coach Jared Bednar and GM Joe Sakic spoke first, followed by nearly every player on the team for between 15-20 minutes scattered around the various podiums. DenverFan.com and 104.3 The Fan were represented by DMac, Rachel Vigil, Jake Shapiro and yours truly Will Petersen. Here are some of the best sights and sounds from what we saw:

Mikko: “they’re very good on d, they’re a heavy team. We have to be ready for hits. It’s important to start the series with a win. It’s big. But it doesn’t mean everything.” pic.twitter.com/7g8nNMB7rc

Avs defenseman Bowen Byram: “I think Cale’s going to go down as one of the best to ever play the position.. To be able to watch him play every day is a treat in and of itself.” #GoAvsGo pic.twitter.com/so98vyI2wW

Avs defenseman Erik Johnson going deep: “I’ve been here a long time. 12, 13 seasons, something like that. This is kind of your life’s work. This is what everyone works for as a kid. There’s always that void if you don’t win the Cup as a player.” #GoAvsGo pic.twitter.com/Y8d1rtHtId

Kind of wild. Both of these goalies have won six games in the playoffs for the Avs. Media attention a tad different. pic.twitter.com/XwX18yjC5B

Different media crowds around the two goalies… Gives you an idea of who most folks feel is more important for the #GoAvsGo in this series. I’m not so sure they’re right 🤷🏼♂️ pic.twitter.com/FxMAhAcKBM

A final 360 view of media day. Lightning will be here in an couple of hours. pic.twitter.com/Dt2DoMJZFY

Did you get all that?!
We’ve certainly seen this type of action at Super Bowls before, but it was pretty wild to have at an NHL venue. The event was a blast overall, but the real fun will begin in about 31 hours as the Stanley Cup Final gets rolling.
