May 12, 2022, 2:29 PM

Four of the five people leading bids to buy the Denver Broncos are now known.

Mike Klis, 104.3 The Fan’s Broncos Insider, reported on Twitter that Byron Allen is heading a group seeking ownership of the Broncos.

Allen is a media magnate and entertainer who recently made a big splash in the sports sphere by launching regional sports network Bally Sports, with the help of Sinclair Broadcast Group.

Klis reports that Allen will visit the Broncos facilities soon and that his bid is backed by a handful of other investors.

If Allen’s bid is successful, he would become the first black owner of an National Football League franchise.

He told The Associated Press in the past that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell approached him in 2019 about buying a team.

Allen is leading one of five bids to buy the Broncos and is not thought to be a frontrunner. Rob Walton and Josh Harris, who have each toured the team’s HQ are the two leading bids per Klis. The other candidate is Todd Boehly.

The Broncos are expected to sell for as much as $5 billion. The current ownership group, the Pat Bowlen Trust, has a fiduciary responsibility to sell to the highest bidder.
