The Arizona Cardinals selected Trey McBride from Colorado State with the 55th pick of the 2022 NFL Draft Friday night.
The standout tight end from Fort Morgan was the first tight end selected in the draft, going in the second round. McBride was the first unanimous All-American in Rams history in 2021. He’ll join three-time Pro Bowler Zach Ertz in the desert as the Cardinals load up with weapons around Kyler Murray. On Thursday, the NFC West club traded for wideout Marquise Brown to pair with DeAndre Hopkins and veteran A.J. Green.
McBride set CSU career tight end records in receptions, receiving yards and 100-yard games. The two-time All-American finished off his college career with 90 catches for 1,121 yards and one touchdown. McBride only got into the endzone 10 times over his college career but was constantly a factor on the field. His brother Toby McBride was also a star linebacker in Fort Collins.
