‘Jail beds’ in Detroit and Philadelphia, may send two Rockies to IL

Many have accused Colorado Rockies ownership of being cheap in the past, but with massive contracts given out to Kris Bryant and Kyle Freeland over the last few months, that talk has quieted down. While investing in the roster recently, the club has apparently gotten cheaper in another area: lodging.
According to several reporters on Friday at Coors Field, the Rockies have a few players dealing with back issues.
MLB.com’s Thomas Harding reported that multiple players were wearing muscle stimulators after the team’s first true road trip of the year. The Rockies went 1-6 this week between series in Detroit and Philadelphia.
“Jail beds,” struggling Rockies infielder Brendan Rodgers told Harding.
According to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post, both Rodgers and Bryant may be put on the Injured List Friday due to their back issues.
Danielle Allentuck from the Denver Gazette reports that Rodgers may get an MRI if there is no improvement.
The Rockies begin a homestand against the Reds on Friday, and it seems as though they might be missing two key players. Next time the Rockies hit the Motor City and the City of Brotherly Love, their traveling secretary will have to think about a different hotel reservation.
Update: The Rockies have placed Kris Bryant on the 10-Day IL with back soreness and called up MLB Pipeline’s No. 4 ranked Rockies prospect corner infielder Elehuris Montero.
