At a press conference, a Denver Fire Department spokesman said he’s not sure if there’s structural damage to the stadium. He estimates over 1,000 square feet of the stadium burned in the fire. It’s still unclear what caused the fire.
(Update 4:38 p.m.) –
9NEWS’ Mike Klis says construction work on the East side of the stadium may have started the fire.
Call it a “small yet significant” fire at Empower Field. Broncos described as “small” fire. Denver Fire called it “significant.” Both can be true. Broncos were having enhancements done to East Club Lounge seating area when it appeared some metal work sparked per source. #9sports
