Clayton: Broncos injury situation is a supreme challenge for Fangio

he Broncos got a little bit of good news on the injury report on Tuesday. But they also received some more bad news.
The good news is that it looks as though Jerry Jeudy has a decent chance of being able to come off injured reserve list this week. That would give the offense Jeudy, Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick at wideout. That’s a good thing.
“Any time you can put another good receiver on the field, it helps everybody, it just does,” Vic Fangio said. “He’s a good route runner, good receiver, catches it well and runs well after the catch. Everything has a domino effect.”
Fangio said he’s going to watch him during the week to see if Jeudy is ready to go on the field this Sunday against Washington. But all signs point toward yes.
Now for the bad news. Von Miller didn’t practice on Tuesday and he’s day-to-day with the ankle injury.
Fangio doesn’t think defensive lineman Mike Purcell will be able to play after thumb surgery. He’s hoping inside linebacker Baron Browning will be able to play. He’s coming off a concussion. Fangio said Browning has cleared concussion protocol, but he’s going to watch and see how the linebacker does on the field.
In the meantime, Fangio is scrambling to see what they can do at the linebacker position. Currently, the Broncos have six linebackers on injured reserve, including three starters.
They are trying to break in two linebackers who came over in trades within the last couple of days. Fangio is dealing with young, inexperienced players. This is supreme challenge.
