The Denver Broncos will be bringing in a quarterback for competition with Drew Lock, but could the upcoming draft be in their favor?
In one mock draft by Pro Football Focus’ Steve Palazzolo, the Broncos could stay with their ninth overall pick and snag Alabama quarterback Mac Jones.

Jones met virtually with the Broncos a few weeks ago and could potentially solve a lot of problems for the Broncos.
“Jones has become a polarizing quarterback evaluation, as he doesn’t have a cannon for an arm, and he’s the least mobile of the first-round hopefuls, but he executes the offense at a high level with decision-making and accuracy” Palazzolo wrote. “Jones has the second-lowest rate of negatively graded throws compared to recent NFL prospects, a key number in his projection and one that should bode well in a Denver offense that has loaded up with offensive playmakers.”
However, USA Today believes the Broncos are a strong candidate to trade up with the Miami Dolphins to the sixth overall pick to draft Jones as well.
Does Jerry Jones love Florida tight end Kyle Pitts enough to move up from No. 10? How badly do the Broncos want to draft a quarterback?

“If new GM George Paton wants to get into the quarterback arena, he probably can’t afford to stick and pick at No. 9,” USA Today’s Nat Davis wrote. “By leapfrogging Detroit in this scenario, he’d get to choose between Lance and Jones. The latter could have real appeal given all the weapons already in place on Denver’s offense, one undermined last season by QB Drew Lock’s league-high 15 interceptions.”
By moving up or riding the draft out to the ninth pick, Jones seems to be a quarterback to keep an eye on for Denver.
