Broncos lose edge rusher Attaochu in free agency to Bears

While general manager George Paton has spent the weekend, and most of the offseason, bolstering the Denver Broncos defense, one veteran piece did manage to land elsewhere in free agency.

The Chicago Bears announced on Sunday they had signed linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu to a two-year deal. The edge rusher had played the previous two seasons in orange and blue.

In a post to Twitter, the Broncos thanked Attaochu for his time with Denver, and the pass rusher responded in kind:

Attaochu made 10 starts for the Broncos over his two-year tenure in Denver, playing in a total of 25 games. In that time he grabbed 8.5 sacks and 14 quarterback hits to go with 52 tackles and a forced fumble and recovery.

Per Spotrac.com, Attaochu will make $5.55 million with Chicago, including a $1.6 million signing bonus and $2.85 million guaranteed.
