Adam Schefter provides an update on other potential QBs available

Appearing on “Schlereth and Evans” on Thursday, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter was asked about the veteran quarterbacks who may be available via trade this offseason. It was an eye-opening conversation.
It’s already been established that Matthew Stafford and Deshaun Watson are on the market. But who else might be available? Mike Evans peppered Schefter with names. Here was his response to each:

Well, things just got a little more interesting. Even those high on Drew Lock have to admit that Stafford and Watson would be an upgrade. Now, the list of veteran QBs who fall into that category got even longer.
Rodgers is going to win league MVP honors this season. He’s led his team to back-to-back 13-3 seasons. He’s a future Hall of Fame quarterback. If he’s available, which would be because Green Bay drafted Jordan Love with the 26th overall pick last season, that’s a game changer. He makes any team in the NFL an instant contender. That fact that he’s a “don’t know” instead of a “heck no” speaks volumes.
Goff and Wentz aren’t at that level, but they’re equally intriguing. They went No. 1 and 2, respectively, in the 2016 NFL Draft. Both have been to a Super Bowl, although Goff lost and Wentz watched his backup, Nick Foles, lead his team to a title. But both have played at a very high level at times during their careers. Both also signed mega-contracts, with Goff inking a four-year, $134 million deal and Wentz getting four years and $128 million.
Garoppolo is in a similar boat. He too has led his team to the Super Bowl, losing to the Chiefs last season. He also has a big contract, with two years left on a five-year, $137.5 million deal. He’s performed well at times in both New England and San Francisco, however, so the Niners won’t move on unless they have a concrete plan to replace him.
Bottom line… if George Paton wants to make a splash out of the gate, the new Broncos general manager certainly has some options.
