Emmanuel Sanders looks to be way ahead of schedule in recovery

In early December, Emmanuel Sanders was lost for the season when he suffered an Achilles tendon injury during practice. With the wideout out of the lineup, the Broncos offense sputtered, as the team went 0-4 without Sanders to finish 6-10 on the season.

As a result, his road to recovery has been closely monitored in the six months since the injury. Having No. 10 on the field is vital to the Broncos chances for success this season; he’s clearly their best offensive player, brining experience and production to the field.

In February, there was a glimmer of hope that the 32-year-old wide receiver would bounce back quickly. Sanders being out of a walking boot that soon after surgery was a great sign.

In May, there were more positive signs, as Sanders posted a video on Instagram of him running in cleats.

First time running with cleats on since I tore my achilles. 🙌🏾 I’m proud of how I handled the process. I did no complaining or asking god why me. I merely said this all apart of my destiny. I endured the pain, I made the sacrifices and now I’m back running. 🙂 God is the greatest and he doesn’t make any mistakes. Ive learned so much about myself and people thru out the process of me being down. I’m grateful. Training camp is a couple months away and I’m looking forward to improving each day and climbing back to the standard of greatness. As cliche as it is it’s the truth. “ Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% of how you react it” 🤟🏾

And then today, there was the best news yet, via another Instagram video. This time around, Sanders was running routes, making sharp cuts and fully testing his repaired Achilles.

Perhaps this is why Vic Fangio was so optimistic about Sanders’ progress after day one of minicamp.

“I think Emmanuel is doing well physically,” the head coach said on Tuesday. “I’ve got no medical basis for this, but I think he’ll be back earlier than people think.”

Based on the video released today, that certainly looks like the case. And that’s great news for the Broncos.
