DMac: Firing VJ’s ‘window dressing’ if no change in Broncos management

With the Denver Broncos officially headed for back-to-back losing seasons for the first time in nearly five decades after a Christmas Eve loss to the Oakland Raiders, the calls for change within the organization have grown louder.
But firing head coach Vance Joseph and replacing quarterback Case Keenum won’t solve the major issues facing the Broncos organization, said “The Drive” co-host DMac after the game Monday.
“Head coach Vance Joseph will be fired. So what? Quarterback Case Keenum will be replaced. And? The issues with the Broncos run so much deeper,” DMac said. “It’s mindboggling. I’m not even sure where to start.
“If there’s not change, and I mean significant change, in management, and soon ownership, then the rest is window dressing.”
In the week ahead of the Raiders game, “Schlereth and Evans” co-host Mike Evans said he “wouldn’t mind” seeing some shakeup with the Broncos front office, especially if the club’s “hell-bent on change in the coaching staff.”
“I know John (Elway is) not going anywhere, but you look at his front office, it’s the same guys. They’ve all been in place since Day One,” Evans said. “You’re telling me you can’t bring in some new blood, new faces.”
Sports Radio 104.3 The Fan host Orlando Franklin said after the loss to the Raiders that it’s time for the Broncos to “clean house.”
“I mean, start all over,” Franklin said. “Give this fanbase, give Broncos Country something to be happy about. Just go ahead, clean house, and move on. Cut your losses, admit your mistakes, start playing these young guys next, and start getting ready for the 2019 season.”
Keenum, however, seemingly made a plea to spare his head coach from dismissal after the game, saying, “We all want to win for coach Joseph.”
“We all love him. I mean, he’s an incredible human and a great football coach. And I want to play hard for him,” Keenum said. “I want to play hard for everybody in that locker room. That’s a big part of our team and our identity, that we stay together and we all love and like and respect each other and we want to fight for each other.
“But it’s a production league. When you’re not winning, it’s tough.”
