DMac: Final Broncos games not meaningless, but winning not the focus

Dec 21, 2018, 5:35 PM | Updated: 7:41 pm

The two remaining games left on the Denver Broncos schedule won’t help them climb into the playoffs, but they do serve a purpose, said “The Drive” co-host DMac on Friday.

While winning or losing against the Oakland Raiders and the Los Angeles Chargers doesn’t mean much to the 2018 campaign, DMac said, the final two games for the Broncos do have meaning in evaluating.

“You have a lot of things that just don’t mean anything, and so you should play players who you’re curious about rather than play players that you have to find something about,” DMac said.

DMac said that the Broncos should sit their “bricks,” foundational players like Von Miller, Bradley Chubb, and Phillip Lindsay, and play those who need to be evaluated further.

“You are looking at all the people that you’re curious about. Now, if you’re still curious about guys, I need to see them. And if you’re not curious about guys, you don’t need to see them,” said DMac’s co-host, Alfred “Big Al” Williams, on Friday.

Williams, however, said the meaninglessness of the final two games of the season doesn’t give players a license to not put out a full effort on the field.

“If they’re going to pay you your money, you go out there and you earn it and you give them the best effort you have,” Williams said.

And if they don’t, that poor play will show up on film for all 32 NFL teams to see, Williams said.

“If you take the field, that’s your living resume,” Williams said. “That’s always your living resume. And yes, bring it. Bring it.”
