The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE IN STUDIO!!!
Big Al goes over his virtual roster of what Broncos he wants to hang on to for the 2019 season. The guys go position-by-position, and DMac explains why he looks for consistency in mock drafts. DMac asks Big Al who the head coach would be if Denver landed Drew Lock, and Big Al responds with Vance Joseph.
In the Big 3, the guys talk about Shane Ray being disrespected by being named as an inactive ahead of Saturday’s Broncos game against the Browns, and DMac doesn’t understand how Big Al can be excited about the Nuggets without giving Jokic or Malone credit.
Al tells DMac Sua Cravens can’t say he’s the best player after what George Kittle did to him, and DMac says it’s unfair to throw coaches under the bus. Al says maybe they wanted to see Jeff Holland play more than Shane Ray, and DMac says the message was likely hard for Ray to handle when Denver drafted Bradley Chubb.
DMac sees the upcoming Raiders game as a preseason game, and asks Al about the significance of it being the last game in Oakland. DMac says there’s no reason to play our stars against Oakland, and Al says the coaches will want to play all their starters. Big Al is hesitant to throw VJ away, and DMac opens the David Shaw conversation.
DMac wants to get Peyton Manning into an ownership or management role in Denver, and wants John Elway out. Big Al tries to corner DMac, and says everyone including Elway makes mistakes.
Al & DMac talk pros and cons of the Broncos winning their next few games, and Al says things are good whether they win or lose. Callers wonder what Elway has done for the franchise lately, and Al points out that only two other franchises have won a Super Bowl since SB 50.
DMac says people need to know the real story with John Elway & the Bowlen trust, and Edgar Kaiser. Big Al says DaeSean Hamilton has been special, and Isaac Yiadom is going to be a superstar.
Big Al suggests Darrell Bevell as the next offensive coordinator in Denver, with VJ retaining his job as Head Coach. The guys talk about Pat Bowlen’s state of mind in 2009 and Al says this family business has ballooned into something bigger.
DMac asks the listeners if they really want to know how the sausage is made, and says everything is great when you’re winning. Also, the guys preview the Nuggets game tonight against the Mavericks.
