Could the Broncos be facing a possible blow out loss vs. the Browns?

Dec 11, 2018, 6:53 PM | Updated: 7:54 pm

Heading into Saturday night’s home tilt against the Cleveland Browns, the Denver Broncos have a 69 percent chance of victory, according to FiveThirtyEight.com.

But “The Drive” co-host DMac said on Tuesday that if they aren’t careful, the Broncos could not only lose to the Browns but bet blown away.

“I’m not predicting it, but I just want to give all of you a heads up. If the Broncos aren’t careful, the Broncos could get blown out,” DMac said. “I’m not saying just lose. They could get blown out by the Browns on Saturday night.”

During the Fan War Room on Tuesday, “Schlereth and Evans” co-host Mark Schlereth, who called Cleveland’s matchup with the Carolina Panthers last weekend, had a similar sentiment about the Browns.

“I’m going to tell you right now, the Cleveland Browns, watching them, watching their practice, studying their tape, and watching them play, they’re in a much better position going forward than the Denver Broncos,” Schlereth said. “They’re a better football team.”

DMac specifically pointed to the Browns offensive weapons, including Baker Mayfield, as reasons for Denver fans to be concerned.

“He is fearless,” Schlereth said of Mayfield. “His understanding of the game, his understanding of manipulating the pocket, never looking at the rush but being able to slide side to side, climb the pocket, and just absolutely let it rip.”

On the season, Mayfield has a 4-6 record in 10 games as a starter, throwing for 2,877 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions with a passer rating of 93.4.

However, Mayfield’s production has risen in the past five games since the Browns fired head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley.

In those games, the Browns are 3-2 while Mayfield’s completion percentage is nearly 10 points higher, his passer rating is more than 20 points higher, and he has thrown 11 touchdowns to just four interceptions.

“Baker was like, I’ll be honest with you man. We had so many voices in all the receivers’ heads and the offense’s head. Once we got one direction and one voice, we have taken off as an offense,” Schlereth said of Mayfield’s production since the team dismissed Jackson and Haley.
