Stokley: No regrets on Broncos trading DT despite big game for Texans

Demaryius Thomas did something for the Houston Texans last night that he hadn’t all year, including the eight games he played for the Denver Broncos: catch two touchdown passes in a single game.
But while D.T. seemingly has found his groove with his new squad, “Stokley and Zach” co-host Brandon Stokley said he still believes the Broncos made the right move in trading the veteran wide receiver.
“I look back at the situation of trading D.T., and I still think it’s a good move for the Broncos,” Stokley said.
Stokley said the Broncos had seen all they could out of Thomas and it was time to move on.
“It was just time to turn the page, time to free up the money, time to let these young guys play and get those guys experience, and hopefully it pays off down the road here with Courtland Sutton getting more playing time and getting more comfortable in the offense …” Stokley said.
The comments come after Orlando Franklin, filling in on “Schlereth and Evans” on Monday, took a similar position but for a different reason.
“With getting rid of Demaryius Thomas, now you’re able to put two tight ends on the field. That’s what Case Keenum is comfortable going to, his tight ends,” Franklin said.
Since being traded to Houston, Thomas has been targeted eight times, catching seven of those passes for 99 yards and two touchdowns.
