Pritchard: Lindsay a ‘phenomenon’ for the 2018 Denver Broncos

Nov 27, 2018, 1:06 PM | Updated: 1:06 pm

Among the five players up for the NFL’s Pepsi Rookie of the Week in Week 12, Denver Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay not only sits as the only one not drafted in the first two rounds of the draft but also the only one not drafted period.

The nomination is just a small testament to what Lindsay has meant to the Broncos in 2018, said “Pritchard and Cecil” co-host Mike Pritchard on Tuesday.

“Phillip Lindsay is a phenomenon for the 2018 Denver Broncos,” Pritchard said. “Despite six different offensive line combinations, Lindsay has been an awesome constant. A needed constant.”

In a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Lindsay rushed for his second career 100-yard game, putting up 110 yards on just 14 carries and a touchdown.

But its Lindsay’s consistency that has caught the eye of many, including his quarterback, Case Keenum.

“Phillip, he’s a big-time player. He’s made a huge difference for our team obviously. He’s a guy you can count on, week in and week out to make plays,” Keenum said after the game Sunday. “Teams are probably scheming to stop him. We’re doing a great job of getting him the ball in space, and even when he’s not, he’s grinding it out in between the tackles and making some big plays. It’s been impressive.”

Pritchard went even as far as to say the running back has kept the Broncos offense, with a now-potent running game, “relevant.”

“Where would the Broncos be without Lindsay?” Pritchard said. “Production aside, I’m talking about intangibles like enthusiasm, passion, and hunger for the game, which, by the way, were all missing ingredients from a franchise that recently won a championship in 2015.”
