The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE IN STUDIO!!! DMac tells Al we should have kept Wade Phillips, and the money thrown away on players we cut could’ve paid for Wade Phillips’ contract.
DMac doesn’t believe Joe Woods when Woods says he’s been here a long time, and can’t believe Woods made it through to the next year when the Broncos were firing everyone. DMac tells Al we should have kept Wade Phillips, and the money thrown away on players we cut could’ve paid for Wade Phillips’ contract.
In the Big 3, DMac says you are always a two-game losing streak from being fired, and Big Al says if the Broncos have a better record than the Philadelphia Eagles, VJ is a better coach than Doug Pederson. Also, DMac asks Al how huge the CU Buffs game against USC is for the university, and Al wants Denver to torch Marcus Peters.
DMac brings up the PFF grades for Connor McGovern & Max Garcia, and Big Al breaks down exactly why Bradley Roby will be playing on Sunday.
Big Al says we got outcoached last week against the NY Jets, but should have beat KC with our gameplan. The boys run through grades for the offense & defense so far, and DMac gets upset with Al after he tries to give the Special Teams an ‘A.’
Al says now we know for sure that VJ didn’t hire Mike McCoy, and asks DMac if Joe Woods was simply handed to VJ as his defensive coordinator. Also, DMac thinks it’s time to move away from Gary Kubiak & Matt Russell.
DMac talks about getting a ‘real’ football guy in there, and why he was so adamant that the Broncos draft a new quarterback in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft instead of, or in addition to, the Bradley Chubb pick.
The guys talk about Garett Bolles being a quick healer, and debate if Bolles is the NFL’s worst Left Tackle. DMac goes through empty backfield scenarios, and Al says not with Bolles at LT.
Big Al and DMac talk about the Broncos rushing attack as they seemingly abandoned their rushing attack in the fourth quarter of last week’s loss against the Jets. You have to keep a balance on the offensive side of the ball.
A caller brings up that they don’t want to see Chad Kelly or any other young Quarterback in the game behind the Offensive Line that the Broncos are trotting out each week.
The Avs are in Buffalo taking on the Sabres as we check in on how the burgundy and blue are doing in DMac’s old stomping grounds.
