Lammey: Forget balance Broncos, turn to rookies Lindsay and Freeman

If you can’t rely on the passing game, Cecil Lammey said the Denver Broncos should turn to its two rookie running backs to get things rolling against the New York Jets.
On Friday, the “Pritchard and Cecil” co-host said the Broncos should go to what they know is working, what they know is getting the job done, and that’s Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman.
“I’m saying if Phillip Lindsay’s getting 12-15 carries a game and Royce Freeman’s getting 15-20 carries a game, fine. Go run-heavy,” Lammey said. “Forget balance. Go the other way. Let the pendulum swing all the way back over.”
The Broncos offense, Lammey said, needs to gain confidence against the Jets, then they can turn to Case Keenum and the pass.
“You need to start at ground zero with your quarterback and say, OK, we’re not going to give you everything yet. We’re going to run the ball,” Lammey said. “We’re going to be really balanced and we’re going to set things up for the passing game. Kind of just bring it along slowly with Case Keenum to build his confidence.”
Lammey said the Broncos, however, should have the “ultimate confidence” in Freeman and Lindsay, and for good measure.
The two rookie running backs have 536 yards from scrimmage combined on 95 total touches, along with five total touchdowns between the two.
