Bye: It’s too early to write book on Case Keenum with the Broncos

Just a quarter of the 2018 season isn’t enough time for “Stokley and Zach” co-host Zach Bye to make a full judgment on Case Keenum and his tenure with the Denver Broncos.
During the Fan War Room on Wednesday, Bye said he’s not “closing the casket and banging in the nails” on Keenum as it relates to the Broncos.
“It has not been good enough. And you’d be crazy to say that it has been good enough. But at the same time there is not a period at the end of the sentence,” Bye said.
Bye said he’s not “clinging to the idea” that Keenum will be the Broncos franchise quarterback and he’ll bring Denver a fourth Super Bowl championship, only that it’s too early to make a determination on the veteran quarterback.
“What I am saying is I believe it is way too early to do the broad, sweeping claims about Case Keenum as it relates to the Denver Broncos,” Bye said. “I still believe, with what I see with the play calling of Bill Musgrave, what I see with the talent around him, if he can tinker just a little bit, I think that you can still win games.”
The panel of 104.3 The Fan hosts, however, pushed back on the notion, with “Schlereth and Evans” co-host Mike Evans calling Keenum a “disappointment” through four games.
“The Drive” co-host DMac said he’d likely take Keenum over seven or eight NFL quarterbacks, but only that many.
“I’m not surprised with what I’m seeing out of Case Keenum whatsoever,” DMac said. “I thought he was the 17th-20th best quarterback in the league. He’s being paid like the 17th-20th quarterback. And he’s performing like the 17th-20th quarterback.”
Through four games, Keenum ranks among NFL quarterback 28th in completion percentage (61.7 percent), 18th in passing yards (988), 27th in touchdown passes (3), 33rd in interception percentage (4.3 percent), and 31st in passer rating (72.1).
