Lammey: Broncos can take page out of Rockies book and show progress

The Colorado Rockies took another step forward as a franchise Tuesday night, advancing to the National League Divisional Series after a 13-inning classic against the Chicago Cubs.
After making the playoffs last season but losing in the wild card game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Rockies have progressed to the next stage as a club — which is something Cecil Lammey said the Denver Broncos should take a page from.
“The Rockies have done what you’re supposed to do in professional sports,” the “Pritchard and Cecil” co-host said Wednesday. “So, when you look at the Denver Broncos and their struggles and can they get on the right track and 5-11 last season, you’ve got to show this kind of progress.”
Progression, Lammey said, looks like an 8-8 or better season for the Broncos or even a wild card berth.
“Broncos, you want to take some of that excitement back? You do what the Rockies did and show progress,” Lammey said.
Along with showing progress as a franchise, Lammey said taking a page out of the Rockies book means performing in big games.
“That’s exactly what the Rockies did in the wild card over the Cubbies. That’s what the Broncos need to do and what they failed to do Monday night,” Lammey said.
Despite leading by 10 points midway through the fourth quarter, the Broncos couldn’t hold off one of the NFL’s top teams in the Kansas City Chiefs, losing 27-23.
