Schlereth: Von Miller the best defensive player in history of Broncos

After Sunday’s 27-24 victory against the Seattle Seahawks, Todd Davis called his fellow Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller a “freak.”

“He’s a great player, and I’m just excited to watch him play, even when I’m on the field with him,” Davis said after the game.

On the day, Miller had six tackles, four quarterback hits, three sacks, three tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.

“Schlereth and Evans” co-host Mark Schlereth, who called Miller’s stellar performance from the Fox television booth on Sunday as a color analyst, had a different description for the linebacker on Tuesday however.

“He’s going to go to the Hall of Fame. He’s a Super Bowl MVP as a defensive player. I’ve got to think he’s the best defensive player in the history of the Denver Broncos,” Schlereth said.

With his three sacks on Sunday, Miller moved into the top 50 in NFL history in terms of sacks, passing Willie McGinest. And with just 11.5 more, Miller can move into first place in club history by passing Simon Fletcher.

Schlereth said what makes Miller unique is his ability to speed rush and power rush, along with countering inside moves.

“I think the biggest thing about Von is he’s really hard to get your hands on. That, to me, is what sets guys apart and why he is such a gifted player,” Schlereth said.

And if Schlereth, a three-time Super Bowl champion offensive lineman in his NFL career, were to have a shot at blocking Miller?

“How I would block him is I would block him the way I blocked everybody. I would try to hold the crap out of him,” Schlereth said.
