Big Al says Demaryius Thomas isn’t a vocal leader, and that hurts his legend. Al guarantees Chad that DT will have ‘the juice’ this year because the Broncos are ready to move on from him, and the guys agree Emmanuel Sanders is ‘willing to die for it.’ In the Big 3, Big Al notices all the nationally televised games the Los Angeles Lakers landed this year, and wonders just how incredible LeBron James’ star power is. Chad asks Al if he enters the preseason fearful of injury, and Al says the only way coaches know if they have the right players in position is to play them. Al wants everyone on the Broncos to run like Saquon Barkley did last night against the Cleveland Browns, and Chad wants to see the Broncos eliminate bad football from their game. Also, Big Al asks Chad what he wants to see from guys like Jake Butt in the Broncos first preseason game.
The boys lay out how to make it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and how hard it can be to get paid properly when you’re on a team with multiple all-star athletes. Al says Case Keenum should be happy that the Rams, Vikings & Texans launched him into stardom. Chad & Big Al explain why you can’t take too much from the preseason, and mention some notable preseason stars from last year. Big Al takes a look at past Super Bowl winners & their preseason records. Al doesn’t want to hear that preseason records don’t matter, and mentions the confidence wins can build for NFL coaches. The boys talk about weather & earth terms, and how quickly offensive players can pick up a playbook compared to defensive players. Al says there are so many hand signals & subtle play calls it will blow your mind, and Chad mentions how costly repeated mistakes can be.
