‘Madden 19’ ratings give Booker slight edge over Freeman for Broncos

The official “Madden 19” launch ratings have dropped and Devontae Booker sits atop the Denver Broncos running back depth chart … for now.

Per EA Sports, which is set to drop the game next month, Booker has a slight edge (76 overall) over rookie running back Royce Freeman, who’s rated as a 73 overall.

Second-year pro De’Angelo Henderson and rookie David Williams round out the rest of the room with ratings of 64 and 63, respectively, perhaps adding credence recent rankings of the Broncos backfield.

Just this week, ESPN.com ranked Denver the 30th squad of the 32 NFL teams in terms of the position.

However, “Schlereth and Evans” host Mark Schlereth said the group potential could be much higher than what prognosticators have rated it currently.

“You look at the Broncos, it’s all about potential,” Schlereth said. “I think what they’re saying here is exactly what we’ve said a bunch. I don’t believe in Booker. I don’t believe he’s the answer.

“Is Royce Freeman the answer? I think he could be. We’ll have to see exactly how he plays. But it’s all about the potential of this backfield.”

Other ratings of note:

Madden 99 Club

Pass rusher Von Miller is one of just seven players in the game rated as a 99, the highest grade the game gives.

He joins quarterbacks Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, wide receiver Antonio Brown, defensive end Aaron Donald, tight end Rob Gronkowski, and linebacker Luke Keuchly.

Sub-90 club

No other Broncos players crack the 90 rating watermark in “Madden 19,” though Chris Harris Jr, Emmanuel Sanders, and Demaryius Thomas come in close at 88 overall each.

Special special teamers

Offseason acquisition Marquette King not only grades out as an 84 overall but is the fifth-highest player on the “Madden 19” Broncos roster.

Kicker Brandon McManus also cracks the 80-plush threshold, ranking 14th among all Denver players.
