The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! Von Miller won’t invite DMac to his pass rushing clinic coming up in Missouri, and DMac says there are beneficial elements to OTAs even if they aren’t necessary for Von. Big Al says there will be a passing camp in Houston this year with Case Keenum in charge, and is still astonished by DT’s contract.
Also, the guys add Von & DT to the Broncos All-Body team & decide what positions need to hit in camp. The guys debate if all the Broncos need to be out there at the same time, and DMac asks Al how many reps Paxton Lynch needs. Also, DMac is in awe over the Vegas Golden Knights pregame festivities & ceremony, and Al is excited to see his Warriors in the Finals once again. Big Al wonders if LeBron can beat the Warriors, and honors his kid graduating & having a birthday.
DMac & Al put a bow on the anthem policy & conversation, and we hear audio from VJ regarding the policy & if he’s ‘happy’ with it. DMac says it’s now on the league to develop relationships with the players. The boys debate if Paxton can relax or not this year, and decide if VJ was taking a shot at the show with his comments. Big Al talks about the trust between Kubiak & the Broncos coaches, and the advantages Denver has in having extra eyes in practice they didn’t have last year. Al & DMac talk about John Elway failing to qualify for the US Senior Open, and just how hard it would be for him to actually make the cut. DMac says there’s no way for Elway to dedicate enough time to golf AND the Broncos to be successful with both. Big Al says this weekend was everything he could ask for as a sports fan, and DMac is happy for all the teachers now that school is out for summer. Also, callers come in agreeing with DMac & his bunt strategy to break up a no-no, and Al defines a ‘dirty play’ in Major League Baseball.
DMac says things feel different this year, and points out Gary Kubiak & a passing camp in Houston as examples of pages turning at Dove Valley in 2018. Big Al calls OTAs practice for the offense, and says we’ll really get to know Case Keenum when the defense is allowed to hit him. Also, Al wonders if WR Brandon Marshall should have been given a look in Denver & rants about the false hope OTAs bring, and DMac wants to see Courtland Sutton on the field. DMac asks Big Al about his Broncos dream roster, and who he would cut or keep. Al wants to dominate the line with force plays & tough blocking. Al says it’s important to have legendary guys like Howard Mudd around, and DMac likes the speed DeAngelo Henderson & Phillip Lindsay give Denver on Special Teams. The boys project yards-per-catch for all the Broncos starting receivers, and Al predicts how many balls the Broncos young WRs will catch in 2018.
