The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! Rockies reporter Jenny Cavnar joins the show to say Charlie Blackmon knows it’s a business, but wants to stay in Colorado. Ben Goessling of the Minnesota Star Tribune joins the show to talk about how the Super Bowl went in Minnesota, and if he was satisfied with the outcome despite the Vikings missing out. Troy Renck of Denver7 joins the show to talk about paying Case Keenum Brock Osweiler-type money, and Troy tells the guys AJ McCarron is an interesting name to file away.
The guys take a look at Mike Mayock’s draft evaluations compared to Bucky Brooks, as DMac hitches his wagons to Mayock and Big Al likes Brooks. Big Al says AJ McCarron will be our guy, and DMac’s guy is still Baker Mayfield. Al says McCarron checks all the boxes, and he would be interested inking AJ to a one year deal. In the Big 3 @ 3:30, Big Al says finding a QB is still priority, and DMac helps Al break down the list of QBs on Denver’s radar in order of priority, including Cousins, Brees, Keenum and Bridgewater. Also, the Jamaican bobsled controversy & ramifications for Notre Dame, if any. Rockies reporter Jenny Cavnar joins the show to say Charlie Blackmon knows it’s a business, but wants to stay in Colorado. Jenny points to the reviews Blackmon is getting from the players hitting behind him in the lineup as a reason for optimism, and says an even better season that last year could be coming up for Charlie. Also, the improved back end of the Rockies pen, and how much it can help Colorado in 2018. Listen to the interview HERE!
The guys discuss AJ McCarron’s grievance, and why we are fixing to find out how badly John Elway wanted McCarron in Denver all along. Al is worried about the Broncos mortgaging their future, and DMac thinks both Cousins & McCarron will have a shot to start for a different NFL franchise in 2018. Ben Goessling of the Minnesota Star Tribune joins the show to talk about how the Super Bowl went in Minnesota, and if he was satisfied with the outcome despite the Vikings missing out. Big Al asks Goessling what’s next for Case Keenum & Teddy Bridgewater, and Goessling says Minnesota’s best-case scenario is keeping both Keenum & Bridgewater, with Kyle Sloter as the only QB currently under contract. Listen to the interview HERE! DMac says he must operate under the conditions that exist with Elway & the Broncos. Big Al says the Jags and the Vikings are the only two teams that fit with Kirk Cousins, and DMac says Cousins might be a Top-10 guy in the league. Also, Big Al asks DMac if he’d be interested in trading for Blake Bortles. Troy Renck of Denver7 joins the show to talk about paying Case Keenum Brock Osweiler-type money, and Troy tells the guys AJ McCarron is an interesting name to file away. Troy tells Big Al Tyrod Taylor is in the mix he doesn’t turn the ball over, and he’s mobile. Troy is tired of Broncos quarterbacks hanging on by a string, and Al says you are who your record says you are. Listen to the interview HERE!
Big Al thinks DMac is putting himself in the same corner when talking about AJ McCarron as he was when the two discussed Kyle Sloter. DMac reminds Big Al he was about to pay Trevor Siemian five million per earlier this year. Al makes damn sure the listeners know Denver is NOT landing Kirk Cousins. DMac talks about the shelf-life of Danielle Herrington, SI Swimsuit Cover Model, and compares her to the free-agent QBs available to the Broncos. DMac says you have to find a slam-dunk move in free agency, and the Broncos are probably better off with AJ McCarron. The guys talk about the fun in sports, and Big Al says sometimes we can get lost in the emotion of the game. DMac says yesterday was a big wake-up call to consider how precious every day is.
