The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! Al says those with mountain bikes in Colorado hardly ride them in the mountains. DMac mentions that Terrance Williams is banged up, and that can only help the Broncos on Sunday. Patrick Saunders joins the show to say all-in-all, it’s been a good stretch for the Rockies. CarGo’s resurgence has been helpful, and the guys go over Colorado’s upcoming schedule with the Cubs still hanging around in the wild-card mix. Also, when should the refs call pass interference on Bennie Fowler.
Al says those with mountain bikes in Colorado hardly ride them in the mountains. DMac mentions that Terrance Williams is banged up, and that can only help the Broncos on Sunday. DMac keeps the Cowboys deep ground game in mind, and the guys argue over Kyle Shanahan’s strategy of going for it on 4th down. Al says just punt the football and play defense. Matt Duchene is upset about swirling trade talks, and DMac wants him to grow up after giving us 17 seconds of media availability today. Al says congrats to Deshaun Watson on getting his first start, and DMac says congrats to Craig Carton on resigning from WFAN. Also, DMac asks Al what the formula should be for stopping the Cowboys, and Jay Cutler is set to draw his first start in Miami. Patrick Saunders joins the show to say all-in-all, it’s been a good stretch for the Rockies. CarGo’s resurgence has been helpful, and the guys go over Colorado’s upcoming schedule with the Cubs still hanging around in the wild-card mix. DMac says 87 is the Rockies’ magic number, and Patrick thinks the biggest concern moving forward is getting our starting pitchers past the first inning. Also, if the Rockies can go .500 the rest of the way. Listen to the interview HERE!
The Broncos offensive line is in flux, and the guys discuss what pieces can be moved around to help out Bolles & Watson on the book-ends. Al mentions how the backs can help out, and how we can get push up front against the Cowboys defense. Kyle Shanahan went for it on 4th down four times on Sunday, and DMac tries to explain to Al why NFL offenses should be trying to score as often as possible. Al calls it a high school coaching philosophy, and says you might as well onside kick to start the game like the Titans pulled last week against Oakland. The guys hear from Mike McCoy, and Big Al says the Cowboys don’t have the talent on defense that the Chargers did last week with Bosa & Co. Al says few teams can dominate a game by running the ball, and the Broncos don’t even need DeAngelo Henderson with a healthy Jamaal Charles & C.J. Anderson. The guys decide what Denver Broncos are on the hot seat in Week 2, and Mike McCoy explains what he would do differently if put in certain situations again that the Chargers presented on Monday.
The guys laugh about The Fan Pick ‘Em. Al thinks the Broncos should dominate the Cowboys, and the guys go through the Broncos’ upcoming schedule & change their picks based on how Denver played against the Chargers. DMac says every game there will be calls that don’t go the Broncos’ way, and the boys decide if any team in the NFL is built like the LA Chargers on defense. Also, Al says Menelik Watson Week 1 was clearly better than Donald Stephenson was last year. Al & DMac decide if Kyle Shanahan was right or wrong last Sunday to go for it on 4th based on expected points, and RMAC referee Jared calls in to agree with Al that there was no pass interference on the interception Trevor Siemian threw against the Chargers. The Bengals & Texans go head-to-head tonight, and Al & DMac decide if they have the Texans winning on the road, or if the Bengals’ defense is good enough to get them the win at home. Everyone makes their picks for The Fan Pick ‘Em Week 2.
