Terry’s Tackle Talk on fishing lines highlights different blends and blades, and Terry asks the listener how much money they are looking to spend. Terry has a system for low-budget techniques as well as high-dollar. Lines you can use in a variety of activities like Trilene XL for light work or XT for abrasion-resistance. A spinning reel with monofilament is the least expensive, and forgiving in case the hook is set too hard. Downfall of monofilament is it’s weakness over time, and Terry suggests changing your line three times per season to avoid tangles. If you keep your rods & reels in the sun or in warm areas, put a super line on these reels, due to their resistance to sun damage. Also, soft rods help with sensitivity & you don’t have to worry about changing the line as often.
