Broncos Ring of Famers Lynch, Davis named Hall of Fame finalists

Jan 3, 2017, 7:01 PM | Updated: 7:03 pm

Two Ring of Fame members — running back Terrell Davis and safety John Lynch — were among four former Denver Broncos named as 2017 finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Tuesday.

Davis and Lynch join safety Brian Dawkins, who played just three years in Denver (2009-2011), and Ty Law, who was with the Broncos just one season (2009), among the 15 NFL modern-era finalists from around the NFL.

Safety Steve Atwater and linebacker Karl Mecklenburg were among the 26 semifinalists but did not make the final cut.

This is the third time Davis has made the list of finalists while it’s the fourth for Lynch. Dawkins made the second cut in just his first year of eligibility.

The remaining group of 15 former NFL players and coaches — along with a senior finalist, former Seattle Seahawks safety Kenny Easley, and two contributor finalists, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and former NFL commission Paul Tagliabue — will be whittled down the 2017 Hall of Fame class during the “NFL Honors” awards ceremony the evening before the Super Bowl.
