The Denver Broncos appeared to have wrapped up yet another key component of it’s Super Bowl caliber defense, reportedly signing safety Darian Stewart to a four-year extension.
Stewart and the Broncos have agreed to a four-year contract extension worth roughly $28 million, with $17 million guaranteed, according to 9News Broncos Insider Mike Klis.

According to Klis, the two sides began talking before the New Orleans game — a matchup in which Stewart grabbed two interceptions and recovered a fumble.
The 28-year-old would have been a free agent at the end of this season.
Stewart has turned over opponents four times this season, a career high, with three of those by way of interception, also a career high.
The seventh-year pro also grades out as the 10th best safety in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus, and sixth best in coverage.
Stewart caught on with Denver in 2015 after spending four years in St. Louis (2010-2013) and one year in Baltimore (2014) when Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak was the Ravens’ offensive coordinator.
