Champ Camp Tensions Rising: The Drive

Aug 15, 2016, 4:15 PM | Updated: 6:15 pm

Monday August 15th, 2016

The Drive with Big Al and D-Mac starts the week off strong with some reaction to today’s champ camp practice. The QBs had a strong bounce-back day from their struggles on Saturday, Emmanuel Sanders and Chris Harris Jr. got into a fight, and Vance Walker sustained a leg injury. The guys also react to the Rio Olympics and talk other relevant sports news. They are joined by Cecil Lammey and Mike Klis to get the latest insight on the Denver Broncos.

LISTEN TO HOUR ONE HERE!

The Drive gets off and running with some chatter about Brock Osweiler’s preseason opener with the Houston Texans, a game in which he looked average at best, shifting the conversation to whether or not the guys want to see Osweiler succeed. They then move on to the QB leader-board and tell you who is running away with the competition.

The Big Three at 3:30 is headlined by Emmanuel Sanders and Chris Harris Jr. getting into a fight at training camp, which leads into a conversation about the new rules in the NFL allowing for players to be ejected from games for getting multiple personal foul penalties, and Usain Bolt winning three straight Gold medals in the 100 meter sprint, which carries into some conversation about the best Olympic athletes of all time.

The guys close the hour with some chatter about the Olympics, particularly Michael Phelps announcing his retirement from Olympic competition and team USA basketball not dominating the way many may have predicted.

LISTEN TO HOUR TWO HERE!

Fan Broncos Insider Cecil Lammey joins the show to give his take on how the Broncos position battles are shaping out. They ask him about the competition at QB, if he sees a competition at the tight end position, if Juwan Thompson is seeing his roster spot disappear, and what surprise players he could see finding their way onto the 53-man roster. Listen to our conversation with Cecil Lammey HERE!

The conversation shifts to the QB competition and the guys revisit their QB leader-board. They go over the current depth-cart as they see it, and speculate on some different possible scenarios and what they would mean for the Broncos and Paxton Lynch.

The guys are joined by 9News Broncos Insider Mike Klis to shed some insight on the Denver Broncos. They ask him about the passing game bouncing back from it’s miserable practice on Saturday, get his insight on what the current status of the QB battle is, get the news on Vance Walker’s injury, and who he sees stepping up in his absence. Listen to the full insight from Mike Klis HERE!

LISTEN TO HOUR THREE HERE!

The guys open up the final hour of the show with some discussion on how the Broncos are coached, and Big Al shares a story to shed some light on why Kubiak puts such a strong emphasis on hustling on and off the field and in the huddle. This carries over to the final look at the QB leader-board for the show, breaking down the play of all three Broncos QBs.

The Closing Bell rings in with the latest trends including Alex Rodriguez trending up as the Miami Marlins have a legitimate reason to pick him up, Wayde Van Niekerk trending up after breaking the world record in the 400 meter run, Vance Walker trending down after suffering an ACL injury putting him out for the season, and the Olympics trending down as Olympic swimmers were robbed at gunpoint.

The guys close the show talking about whether or not Demarcus Ware will be ready to play by the start of the regular season and a little-known fact about the gold in the Olympic gold medals.
