Report: NFL suspends Broncos safety Shiloh Keo two games

The NFL’s suspension hammer has dropped on the first of what could be multiple Denver Broncos defenders facing bans heading into the regular season.

The league suspended Broncos safety Shiloh Keo two games Friday for violating the NFL substance-abuse police, a league source told the Denver Post’s Nicki Jhabvala.

The ban follows Keo’s arrest in February for allegedly driving under the influence in Idaho, less than a week after the Broncos victory in Super Bowl 50. The Denver defensive back reportedly pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI in July.

Per league rules, Keo, who made one tackle in the Broncos preseason opener Thursday against Chicago Bears, will be able to participate in the remainder of the Broncos training camp practices and games.

However, he will be banned from team activities and facilities until the Monday following Denver’s Week 2 tilt with the Indianapolis Colts — Sept. 19.

Keo may not be the only member of the Broncos defensive backfield to miss games to start the season.

Earlier this week, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter joined 104.3 The Fan’s “The Drive with Big Al and DMac” to discuss possible discipline cornerback Aqib Talib faces from the NFL for a June 5th incident in which he suffered gunshot wounds to his right leg.

Schefter said he would be surprised if the 2015 Pro Bowler, who had been sidelined with the injury until Monday and did not participate in Thursday’s preseason opener, did not see discipline in “some form or another.”

“I remember initially speaking to somebody, and we were discussing the situation. And we were discussing it in a hypothetical way, because we do not know the exact facts of the situation. It’s a mystery. But the person I was talking to said, ‘I don’t see how this is less than 8 games,’” Schefter said.

He continued: “I don’t what it’s going to be. I’m just telling you what one knowledgeable person told me. Now maybe he’s suspended one game. That could be. Maybe it’s four games, and they appeal it and get it down to two.”
