While Broncos Country lost a legend this week with the death of former Denver wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, DT’s presence Sunday at Empower Field at Mile High was undeniable.
The Broncos paid tribute to the franchise legend in several ways, including painting Thomas’ No. 88 on the turf and displaying it with a decal on Denver’s helmets. Fans could also visit a memorial just outside the south stands of the stadium.
Denver also played a video tribute to Thomas, along with holding a moment of silence.
But perhaps the most poignant moment honor Thomas happened on the first play of the game, wherein the Broncos purposefully lined up with just 10 players before taking a delay of game. Detroit would decline the penalty.
What a moment in Denver.
