Shannon Sharpe lights up Russell Wilson and it’s really telling

Oct 28, 2022, 12:45 PM

Shannon Sharpe was back in Denver last weekend when the Broncos hosted the New York Jets and he may have learned some behind-the-scenes details while in the Mile High City.

The Broncos brought back one of their Super Bowl-winning teams for a reunion during the game. Included was Hall of Fame tight end turned sports broadcaster, Sharpe. Spending 12 seasons in Colorado, the Georgia native went to seven Pro Bowls and won two Super Bowls. He’s also still tied in with the Broncos, building being a team legend.

On his show Friday, Sharpe sounded off about Russell Wilson and what’s going on behind the scenes in Denver.

Wilson was traded to the Broncos in a massive offseason deal that saw the former Seahawks star finally leave the city where he won a Super Bowl. Wilson was extended on a massive deal soon there after. But his start in orange and blue has not gone well, leading the Broncos to the worst-scoring offense in the NFL and a 2-5 record.

Among Sharpe’s critiques was of Wilson’s whacky in-flight workout on the trip to London, “he should sit his butt down they’re trying to get some sleep,” Sharpe said of Wilson. He followed by wondering why the media even needed to know that.

Sharpe’s most pointed thoughts came about how he feels Wilson never tried to become of the guys in the locker room. Sharpe believes Wilson having his own office and other luxuries makes his teammates resent him. The former Bronco great blames the team for allowing the quarterback this wide of a runway.

“There’s growing resentment in that building about that guy; I’ll leave it at that,” Sharpe said.

So who did Sharpe talk to? He certainly knows something unsavory that he isn’t sharing.
