Richard Sherman blasts Russell Wilson, sparking Super Bowl flashbacks

Oct 6, 2022, 11:04 PM

Stop me if you have heard this before: late in the ballgame, Russell Wilson is the quarterback, his team is down and only needs one yard. His team chooses to throw the ball and Wilson comes up short, costing his team the game.

Like Super Bowl XLIX, Wilson didn’t come through with his normal clutch gene. This time the Denver Broncos needed one yard to get a first down in overtime to extend their game, or they could go for the win on a touchdown deep in Colts’ territory. Wilson missed his target, and the Broncos lost 12-9.

Somebody who was there for both plays is Richard Sherman. The former star Seahawks cornerback turned broadcaster has been extremely critical of his former quarterback, and he was given a microphone and platform to blast Wilson once again.

Run the ball, Sherman shouted over and over again. Of course, not running the ball cost the Seahawks a Superbowl and Sherman a ring, so the wound will forever be sore. But Sherman’s view is an insight into how teammates feel about the MVP-driven QB and how folks in Denver may feel about their new quarterback, who has led the Broncos to 2-3.

Sherman took to Twitter as well.

Wilson’s big mistake in the game, though came earlier when he threw a late fourth-quarter interception when running the ball, and a field goal likely would’ve won Denver the game. Sherman’s tweets seem to have been about the pick, while his rant on TV was about the final play.

Either way, a former Patriot Super Bowl winner Stephon Gilmore grabbed the interception.

Funny enough, Wilson was seen shaking hands with Sherman pregame. So either they’re fake face-to-face, or both are playing for the cameras. But to me this smells like some real deal Grade A Prime Beef.
