Report: Teams interested in trading for Albert Okwuegbunam
Oct 20, 2022, 10:23 AM
Albert Okwuegbunam has been iced out of Denver’s offense, listed as inactive this past week despite being healthy.
The debut of Broncos rookie Greg Dulcich quickly proved that the third-round pick is No.1 on Denver’s depth chart. Okwuegbunam once thought to be a replacement for Noah Fant, only got on the field for one snap the week prior and has disappointed mighty this season. Okwuegbunam’s poor blocking skills are leading the Broncos to only run pass plays when he’s in the game, thus tipping the defense off.
Still, with Okwuegbunam not even getting onto the field for the league’s now-worst-scoring offense, apparently, there’s trade interest.
NFL teams are interested in trade scenarios for Denver Broncos tight end Albert Okwuegbunam, according to league sources. Third-year former Missouri standout and fourth-round draft pick has seven catches for 50 yards this season, 51 career receptions for 501 yards, three scores

Considering he has 4.49 speed at 258 pounds, as Denver Fan’s Andrew Mason points out, it makes more sense why the third-year player from Missouri would be desirable.
It’s hard to imagine the Broncos netting more than a late-round pick for him, but since Denver is already low on draft picks, that could be valuable to George Paton, especially for a player who isn’t even cracking the lineup. How much of this report is creating a buzz about Okwuegbunam and how much is real will never be known.
The Broncos have until Nov. 1 at 4 p.m. E.T. to make moves before NFL’s trade deadline.
