Could Davante Adams join Aaron Rodgers with Broncos?

The latest buzz surrounding Aaron Rodgers, and whether his future may or may not include a Denver Broncos uniform, points to another Green Bay Packer joining the future Hall of Famer in the Mile High City.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on Tuesday that if the reigning MVP heads to Denver, Packers wide receiver Davante Adams might want to join him.

Why wouldn’t the pair want to hook up in Denver, should Rodgers find his way to the Broncos? No other receiver has found the end zone with Rodgers more than Adams (68).

One obstacle to that happening, however, might be the franchise tag. Should Rodgers opt to force his way out of Green Bay, it makes sense Adams would want a change of scenery too. But the Packers might franchise tag the prolific wideout, which could happen anytime between Feb. 22 and March 8.

Rodgers told the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday:

“I’d like to be respectful of the organization. One decision that will be upcoming will be obviously Davante and his future with the team. There still is this thing called a franchise tag, which I don’t think ‘17’ wants the franchise.

“I think that should be enough time to make a decision by then. I don’t want to put myself on a specific date, but I do want to be sensitive to Davante and many other guys who have decisions to make on their own futures. To drag it out past free agency would be disrespectful to the organization and to those guys, and that 100 percent will not happen.”

And recently Rodgers said he did not want to be “part of a rebuild” if he were to still play next season, a likely scenario for Green Bay without Adams in the mix.

With Rodgers yielding bit more leverage this offseason than last, as Green Bay is projected to be $40 million over the cap at this point, and the Broncos having plenty of cap space and capital to spend, it’s not inconceivable the reigning MVP could land in Denver.

Whether Rodgers does turn from the green and yellow to the orange and blue, and whether it’s with Adams too, remains to be seen — or as they say Broncos Country: “We’re fixin’ to find out.”
