Guest: Leah Varnell from CASA of Jefferson & Gilpin Counties and Jane Dvorak CASA Advocate Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) serves children who have been abused and neglected and are in the court system.  CASA provides volunteer advocates to help insure the safety of children.  April is Child Abuse Prevention, which helps to shine a light on these children and the problem we have in the area.  A CASA advocate works with all the people who have a part in the child’s life.  The ideal CASA volunteer is able to work independently and be able to look at a case and child/children and create a plan for what the child needs.  A volunteer needs to be able to set boundaries and still have compassion.  https://www.casajeffcogilpin.com/
