Mile High Magazine 04/24/2022 Alcohol Awareness Month

Guest: Dr. Jody Ryan Chief Medical Officer Mental Health Center of Denver April is National Alcohol Awareness Month, which was designated in 1987 with the aim of raising awareness of one of the nation’s biggest health issues. Alcohol sales during the pandemic increased by 3% during the pandemic, it does not seem like a lot but that is the biggest hick since the 1960’s.  The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism recently published there was a 25% increase in alcohol illnesses and fatalities during the first year in the pandemic.  Pandemic or not, it is time for people to start reevaluating their relationship with alcohol.  If you think you have a problem, get help.  Check with your insurance to see if they would help with recovery.  Also check out AA, its free and has been around since the 1930’s so it is proven to work.               mhcd.org
